Visually, from cockpit view, cockpit looked darker, tires also looked darker and the wind deflector was less scratched and more transparent, I guess the problems with the annoying opaque wind deflector when driving on a cloudy sky may dissapear.

Disappointed a little that's for sure. Yes it looks a little better but I have no idea what ISI are thinking in terms of grip. The new tyre condition is how it should be when it's well worn imo. Hard to say, we've only tried one track really and possibly the converted tracks are worse than the official.
After trying my set ups and having no luck I put the default set on and instantly felt a little better. I'd say throw the old set up away and start again from default. My lap times dropped by around 2.5 seconds at Snetterton.
Keep in mind this product is beta and we are effectively beta testers for ISI. It can be frustrating at times.

I'm guessing the problem is because they've different shaders for cloudy skies so "see-through" textures look a little more opaque
They need to redo 75% of the game's textures, but I've had a look at those textures and there's no change from what I can see.

Yea I hate the grip too. And the way the tires lock up so fast when braking and downshifting quickly. If I downshift slower they don't lock up and I can still steer? Idk if this is normal

Build note april 22 historics Wrote:- Added and adjusted new wear (abrasion and degradation) parameters.
- Added and adjusted to suit new engine model.
- Minor adjustments to tyre heating and cooling properties.
- Minor suspension tweaks.
I suppose this info means more to modders than it does to me... ???
I just wish Isi told us more about what differences to expect. Should the springs feel stiffer now? What exactly does "added and adjusted to suit new engine model" mean? It's more like a guessing game now. I'm still not sure if the tyre-contact-patch is complete, does the grip still come from only the middle part of the tires? If not, I think things will get better. For now, we'll have to get adjusted to the new physics, whatever they exactly are.

I had quite a long run on it tonight and it started to feel better. Could just be a case of laps under the belt. Definitely harder to drive. DC's set up with very stiff suspension did it for me.

What is it that grip comes from just the middle part of the tire?

I think it has something to do with tyre pressure on this mod. It seems no matter how low/high you adjust the pressure or how much you play with the camber the hottest part of the tyre is in the middle. Low pressure sending heat to the outside edges and high to the middle normally. Other more technical mods give better results. It can be it's just purely be a characteristic of the mod and how it was back then.
This shows the outside left tyres at the hottest point of the track

I must check the telemtry I recorded on wednesday to compare with previous one and see if temperature areas do change and see where exactly time is lost with the new version.

If you check your tyre temps the centre will allways be hotter no matter what camber or tyre pressures your running so this means your mainly using just the centre of the tyre , i use trackmap and this shows that the tyres are always overpressure when up to temp .
If you watch the tyres on a video you will see they are soft and underinflated which can cause the centre to run hot , but, if you raise the pressures all that happens is that you loose grip and run hotter still , its this temp/ pressure imbalance that ISI need to get sorted , when they do we should have more grip and be able to setup the cars properly and easily , the current way we set these cars up will not then work , in the 60s these cars ran on crossply tyres which had mega stiff sidewalls so if you added camber you lifted part of the tyre off the track and lost grip, on todays radial tyres the sidewall flexes and allows the tyre to grip across its width , if you check video of these cars you will see they run little or no camber but modern cars can run huge amounts of camber .
Understeer - is when you hit the wall with the front of the car
Oversteer - is when you hit the wall with the back of the car
Horsepower - is how fast you hit the wall
Torque - is how far you move the wall when you hit it
