I WAS having problems. My CPU was unable to keep up. A couple of simple changes fixed it for me:

First, look at the CPU and FPS graph during an offline start of a 20 car grid.

I read a while back on the ISI furum that vsync wasn't a good idea, so I had it off. This seemed wrong to me for a couple reasons: there is no need to render frames that you aren't going to see on a 60hz monitor, and while it is not working on needless frames it can do other things or just run cooler. Turning on "Software" sync fixed the problem for me, with no bad side effects noticed. In fact it seems to drive smoother and look as good or better than before! Plus the CPU has a bit of headroom as shown on the graph.
