DC and DJ pushed me really hard in the qualifying. To my surprise I initially pulled off a 1:04.6, but still DC beat me by a few hundreds of a second. A few attempts and tiny setup changes later I was ahead by a few hundreds. It was so close, and it was really the best I could do. I didn't expect to grab pole position here at all to be honest. Guess a lot of extra rubber was laid down on the track in that final practice.
With the start being on an upwards slope and only two feet to operate three pedals, I slightly rolled backwards before setting off
I kept the lead, while there were some fights going on behind me in T1.
DJ was giving me a run for my money, keeping up with my pace most of the time. I managed to pull a small gap of 2s several times only to lose again while being careful to lap other cars.
Even some close calls at times!
Unfortunately for DJ, a little too close... he was spun around while lapping a fellow competitor.
From there on I had enough gap to stop pushing overly hard, and I managed to keep up the concentration to finish the race.
Quite an easy win, despite a few hectic moments when lapping other cars on the tighter sections of the track. There's really not much room and these cars are very wide
Looking forward to the next race. Hope Antti will have his steering wheel back in operation by then; he had to bail out last minute as his wheel wouldn't clamp to his desk anymore
Ah, and please please please everyone... no chatting during the qualifying or race!
