Hi all,
I don’t know if Bryan (Fergy) preferred to announce this, but he‘s currently asleep Down Under :p. He can elaborate a bit more when he wakes up
As the current (virtual) server is running on a now no longer supported Windows version, we are forced to upgrade the server. I have taken on the task of performing this migration. It’s quite a bit of work, I have limited spare time (even less now with my 5-year old full time at home lol), I’m not familiar with everything that’s currently set up, and we only have one week to do it before they remove the current server. Make that 2 days, as I was swamped with work the past week... :p
So what’s going to happen the next few days?
1) I am copying all essential data, so that at least nothing gets lost when the current server is wiped out of existence
2) I set up the new server to run rFactor, that we can continue to practice.
3) I set up the Live Timing that our laps continue to be stored.
4) I take down the site (forums) on Sunday evening or Monday morning and attempt to get it all running on the new server. Worst case this might take a few days, because the DNS also has to be re-pointed to the new server, and this can take up to 2 days to propagate around the world.
5) all the other crap that comes with reinstalling everything from scratch :p
Please bear with me while I undertake this bit of work. Don’t despair when the forums or servers go down and become unreachable for a while, everything is in safe hands (hum...)
