Bad luck for those who suffered from ctd's, I'm getting my share too but it didn't really interfere tonight...
That chicane is so horrid, you have to go through without braking because that multplies your steering and makes you all wiggly but all I wanna do there is brake lol
So qualy was mere hotlapping, I learned a lot from Guiseppe Melis, terribly fast guy. I tried his approach without asking for his set, configured the gearing to how he did it and that helped a lot.
Race 1 I started with the knowledge that anything could happen and I didnt expect much of the weekend as a whole. And so at lap 4 I took a dive after trying to tip toe the chicane but steering straight into the barrier. Could also be the shark who wanted to take a swim...
Race 2 I had a great start, I gained some places but without having seen the replay at this moment, I think I collided with DjC because I did not expect/see him there. I came out with damage but it was driveable and made my way still in top ten. Must have been a pile-up... Sorry about that. :-\ I passed some people who gave way for me too, respect for that and after some laps and just before my pitstop, some drivers crashed after the chicane. I had to be so careful, zigzagging around the pile ups and respawning cars, but finally I reached my pit. The team did a super job because my damage was fixed in no time. I left repairs on, on purpose and because of the hassle it is to turn it off. Quick stop and on the road again, I was a little worried because a lot of drivers had passed me during the stop but eventually, after a lot of careful chicanes I saw Cook taking his stop and drove my car to victory. Hallelujah!!!
Most amazing was the fact I drove on after the finish, got up to my teammate Neela who was on her last lap but.. with.. drumroll.... 3 wheels!!! LOL! and magnificent effort Neela!
Race 3 from the back. Again good start, being careful following the pack, I got up to second position behind DjC. Again some drivers let me go and again, respect and many thanks for that. When I stopped for my mandatory pitstop, I was about 5 secs behind DjC. He kept going and I had to make up that time so I gave it all I got the whole track, except for the chicane. Just after DjC's stop, I drove along the stracht and saw his name tag and thought, is he still standing or driving and I hesitated with T1-entry. But then I noticed him slowly getting out of pit and in a split-second I stepped on it and tried to pass him on the outside of turn one. Not without damage though as I scraped the guardrail quite good... So with damage and a persisting David Cruickshank on my tail but in first place, I made my way up to the crest and from there on ,again , tip toeing through the chicane and as quick as possible though the rest of the track. Again, luck on my side and 1st place finish from the very back of the pack! Woohoo!!
