Qualy
I went early to avoid congestion and managed to set a time I was happy with in 4 laps this netted me 5th so I sat the rest of the session out , I set my pit strategy for 9 laps and 5 hoping to get track position as I knew overtaking is hard .
Race 1
Got a great start got into St Devote in second place behind Marcel chased him for 4 laps and then was amazed to see him go fishing, got my head down and concentrated trying not to make any mistakes and let Bryan near me . my pitstop was a bit messy but it went OK and I didn’t get any penalties , I came out behind Bryan and was chasing him hard , I knew I would never be able to pass him so I had settled for 2nd place , when I saw him throw himself into the harbour I nearly crashed out myself through watching his accident , mega unlucky Bryan , the first win (and probably only win ) for Team Davit
Race 2
Oh boy was lady luck with me in this one , got a great start and had a decent lead for a few laps but I could see DJC steadily closing me down , I was hoping to hold him off until his pitstop so I was pushing as hard as I dared , we had both just lapped Gorka but then going into the chicane I over cooked it and spun so I was facing him , he hit me and rolled me and then Gorka arrived and piled in , that’s it I thought race over , but , when the car righted itself it felt ok , DJC had got going again but appeared to be damaged , I caught and passed him and couldn’t believe I was in the lead again , next lap going down the pit straight I hit unseen debris which threw me into a double 360 but I spun down the middle of the track and touched nothing , after that I pitted and watched Marcel and John go past and came out of pitstop in third place , I chased after them and watched John pit which gave me second , no way I was never going to catch Marcel so I drove for a finish .
Race 3
Lady Luck had had enough of me by this point , I had a reasonable start and survived the jockeying for position in turn 1 , Bryan and I were fighting for position and I think we changed places a couple of times , it was shaping up to be an intense fight , nipped round his outside at Leows and we both charged towards the chicane , unfortunately there was a crash on the chicane exit and I could’nt scrub the speed to avoid it , so I piled in and damaged the car , this meant a long pitstop 307 secs , I had fuelled to finish the race but forgot to knock of the fuel for the laps I would be in the pits so when I came out I was very heavy with fuel , the car handled like a dog and I lost it coming out of Casino and damaged it again , at that point I retired .
Monte Carlo is a hard track to race on if racing is the right word , I think its more a course in survival , I ended up doing far better than I envisaged and had a lot of luck , but , it was fun .
Big thanks as always to Bryan and Paul for setting it up and well done to all who were brave enough to turn up , but thank god we don’t have to go there again .
