Wed Night Fun Races - 2022 - SR4L BMW M1 LE
Whaa!! Sad Can only play once in next 4 weeks. Dr appts then a week at the Grand Canyon. Hope to join in on the 15th.

Can't wait to see the canyon though! There will telescope "star parties" each night I'm there. Some of the darkest night skies in the country. Big Grin

I'm enjoying the Alfa too. @deecee52 I do see it get quite dark from time to time on the server but it is still driveable and most of the time the light levels are good.

Is 7th Samurai a member of the forum? He or she has set quite a time at Bridgehampton.

His old name was SpeedRacerSeven and joined us for last years Formula BMW sprint series. He did very well.
You all going to all have to share your setups if we have any chance of beating him Big Grin.

This track seems to be affected with that same green yellow tint problem that just happens online. It's a shame because the track looks great offline (see my screen shot on previous page).

Does anyone have a home-server they can try this out on - I.e. set up a dedicated server on either a spare machine or their rf2 client machine (I know performance will be pants, but that’s not the point…) - just to try and see if the tint has *anything* to do with our server setup?
Cool

Good idea. I gave it try. I set up a server from my home PC. Used same track, same car, same server mod, and same time of day. I set weather to Partially Cloudy
I get the same result as the SR4L server.

ive been to the canyon - take alot of pictures - they wont do it justice but still , i hiked down , i was young , cant do that now , the temp went to 120 degrees
hint : i have three pics to show the scale , a mountain with a tree on top ,. then zoomed out shows a cliff twice the size of the mountain with the tree on top of that- tree is now tiny , then a third zoomed right out showing that the mountain with the mountain on top has another 5x mountain under that- the tree is indistinguishable

i camped there and met two nice girls from england ..........they had no tent , we gathered pine cones and made a huge bonfire (no wood to burn, pine cones burn good) , invited everyone in the campsite , some guy named lucas from germany had no food so we gave him some and he played guitar

its a unique place - you can sit on the edge

God I wish I was a lot younger doing it!! But glad I'm taking the opportunity now. My visit will be old-man boring in comparison. Big Grin. Will take pics for sure. I'd really love to go down to the bottom but I don't think there's a way to do that now from what I've read, other than mule ride or rough water river boat. Then I'd need a cable car to get me out of there. It's a freaking mile deep!

My youngest son did the route 66 run a couple of years back and diverted to the canyon , said he was blown away with the scale of everything , he has a pic of him standing on a glass pier hanging out over the edge , not good if you have vertigo its a long way down .
Understeer - is when you hit the wall with the front of the car
Oversteer - is when you hit the wall with the back of the car
Horsepower - is how fast you hit the wall
Torque - is how far you move the wall when you hit it

It was a blast - thanks for joining us again.

Given a brand-new vehicle and a mad, bumpy track, I think we got away with less carnage than I was expecting. The car is fairly fragile it seems - contact quite quickly degrades handling and performance so I think we did ok.

There were a couple of start-line collisions which were unfortunate but (from what I could see) weren’t due to reckless driving. I‘ve always operated a no-restart policy for the fun-races and still think that’s the way to go - otherwise we end up with endless restarts and arguments as to why one race was allowed to continue and another wasn’t.

Anyway, the car shows much promise - I think I’ll take us to a smoother track next (I’m thinking Zandvoort possibly) to let people get a better understanding of the setup and handling.

Might also load a ‘Just for fun’ server with one or two of the other Simeracers.eu cars to see what they’re like….(?)

Ed (in particular) noticed that the green tinge effect isn’t a constant (for him) - as the cloud cover/brightness changes, some combinations in a session appear fine and others have the tinge or are otherwise more/less bright.

I’d still like someone (@Petrolhead might be able to help) set up a private server with the same car/track combos to see if it is anything specifically to do with our install.

Unfortunately, due to the slight pig-headedness of S397, we can’t set up a server with 100% non-varying weather. S397 have stated that this is just too artificial for them and so even a 100%. ‘Clear skies’ session will get some light cloud cover at some point….Rolleyes

Fun racing last night. Thank you.
I don't mind a few clouds. Some tracks without clouds can look over oversaturated. I like to play with a mixer of 'Light Clouds' with 1 or two blocks set to 'Partially cloudy'. This is what I have built into my Nords track as the default settings. Looks good.

Seehttp:// post 106. I have tried this on my own server and still get the green tint.

Sounds good. Looking for ideas for a Sunday evening fun race to fill the gap between seasons.

Tried to join the Spielberg server twice just now and both times the game froze when the message "Joining server" displays. Had to use task manager to kill rfactor 2.

Can you check that you have the v1.1 version of the track installed?

You might need to uninstall any previous versions/mods that used the track too.

I did have v1.1 installed. Uninstalling it so it could be re-downloaded fixed the problem.

Minimum downforce works well if you soften the suspension.

Well that was ‘interesting’…

There were a few driver issues - I’d advertised for the first time in a while on the S397 forum and we did get a good turnout but with some mixed abilities!

Jeff also had some very unfortunate technical issues that caused carnage at a few starts - he was reporting that the lights would go out and either the entire field would disappear or he’d have control removed and so his driverless vehicle was warping into others. After discussion (he did drop out for a while to validate his files, check his internet connection etc. - his ping was very healthy when I looked) i started him from the back of the grid for several races so that he could let the field get clear - with varying success.

These cars do appear quite fragile in accidents - so with back markers, warping-Jeff and so on, we had quite a few DNFs.

Overall though, I thought we got quite a bit if good racing in between. The tyres do wear out (the Porsche just overheated them but let Checo-Perez-Alikes charge off into the distance) resulting in closer racing than we’ve been used to.

There doesn’t seem to be much/any draughting - which is a bit of a shame - you’d think a (90’s?) exec barge would punch quite a hole in the air at 190mph (!!!) but it didn’t seem to.

All in all, so far so good. Just need to pick an evolutionary track for next week. We’ve had bumpy/tricky and very-fast/flowing - need something in between that still has a bit of space for more than one racing line (old Silverstone/Kyalami? What else?)
