I had a few crashes :O . Easy to touch the brake and loose control. I was using Ed's low wing setup.
2 races never finished. I got put into the guardrail and got stuck inside it, and the last race I did 10 barrel rolls after getting hit. I was too damaged to finish.
Maybe just my slow PC, but turning off Mirrors I was getting 3 times more FPS than with them turned on.
For reasons not clear the modder of the car has used a MIRROR.BMP file of 11 MB in file size, other cars are averaging less then 1 MB. Does nothing but sap all the performance from my game. I think Ed last week had to lower graphics settings. I'm curious what FPS you guys are getting turning Mirrors on and off with this car?
A car we need to drive soon, the sister car to the Porsche RSR 1973. Converted by the same person.

Both cars can be easily run together.

I’m missing something though - the toggle mirrors button only seemed to affect the virtual mirrors - is it a JSON entry for the sides?
the mirror button has 5 stages, it's not just on/off. You have to keep pressing it. No idea if it works different in your VR? I not had to touch my .JSON file.

Yes it look fine, infact it looks like the Modder has borrowed the one I did for the RSR car, both look exactly the same.
Positive things about the Fairlady car.
- Looks great, just like the RSR, very well modelled.
- Drives good. Easy to get into.
Negative Things:
- Virtual mirrors have the wrong aspect ratio, they look very stretched. The reason is incorrect MIRROR.BMP res.
- LOD issues: AI cars in front loose detail to close to you where you only see the car frame even with Max graphics settings.
- Just like the RSR73, the Dashboard Dials could be optimised to gain a small bit of lost FPS, see my Tect Talk thread here http://www.simracers4life.com/forum/inde...-fps.2793/ But no big deal, it's not as bad with this car.

Yeah - I was cycling through the options but in VR the sides never seemed to turn off. I’ll try again later when I set up a track for next week.

I've had a dig into the files and the Fairlady *is* identical under the hood. Chassis, tyre, HDV files have exactly the same params. Couldn't be bothered to check the engine file but it'll be the same too.
I still really like the Alfa, but sometimes under heavy cornering it puts on an enormous wobble and I haven't figured out what to do with the setup to tame it. At Kyalami the first corner (a long righthander) seems to really unsettle it just when I think I've nailed it.

I’ve only done a couple of laps but think I know what you mean.
It feels similar (but much less pronounced) to an issue we had developing the BMW M1 (which is still ongoing but looking promising…) - the tyres used in that mod were very abrupt in their transition from grip to slide and back again and so the car tended to skip or axle-tramp quite badly.
I can only think that you might need to either up the pressures to try to stop them deforming so much under load or possibly up the damping to contain rapid suspension movement that might result?
I’ve done a fair few laps now - it’s not the most comfortable ride around this track, no!
The car does seem to do a similar hop-and-skip as the original M1 if you get it sideways.
I did t get a chance to test the car with this track before loading it - just thought it would suit the flowing high speed corners after Spielberg. I’ll try and test the next one!

Just remembered that in*did* test the mirrors in the 155 last night. In VR (in this car at least) the multi-stage mirror toggle does *not* turn the actual side mirrors off. They give a tiny flicker on one of the key presses, but remain resolutely on!
I don't recall driving at Daytona before. Turn 1 is quite challenging in a similar way to the last bit of the Top Gear track (Dunsfold). I don't know where to brake and turn in given such a wide 'track' and no brake distance markers.

There are distance markers on the fence on the banking - but they’re pretty small!
OK once past the start-finish line there are no braking markers on the right, just a featureless fence and a sign with arrows which means its too late to brake. On the left there are cones which are sure to be moved and they are obscured by my door pillar. The only thing I can see to use as a brake marker are the white lines in the middle of the road.
