SIM RACERS 4 LIFE - BT44 SEASON - ROUND 3 - MONACO - REPORTS
#21
Congrats Dave! Well Done!

i didn't do what i should have done before clicking into practice yesterday.... with my computer, ANY time i get a power outage at the house and/or an upgrade from windows or steam - i need to delete and re-install my logitech stuff. i had both... did i take the time - NO. >Sad i thought, i will just go in an check to see if i got my wheel. i did have wheel in practice! and in Qually! and in warmup!
so that leaves the Race - we all know where this is going, don't we..... :-\
the car was uncontrollable on a track that you need CONTROL.. i was lucky to make it to the second lap......
note to self - fix it next time........
congrats to those that finished! and, again Dave - well done!

well, this race (and track) was a challenge for body, mind and soul …

Q – I couldn't get close to my PB, but a 1.16.high was enough to secure P5 on the grid.

R – Starting from the outside, I was on P6 behind Dan after T1. I managed to stay in close distance for a while but after spinning (w/o crashing into the wall) after a a few laps meant that there was a considerable gap. Dan seemed to struggle with his tyres and he went to the pits just when I arrived behind his gear box. After that it seems that I was pretty consolidated, having a significant gap to the leasing cars, but a also a wide gap to the cars behind. Due to the general mayhem I was running 3rd around half time of the race. Traffic was enormous, but I managed to keep it clean and tidy while lapping until …

Around 2/3 of the race distance, I had another car to lap in front of me just before the chicane. I tried to be super smart not overdoing it, and by doing so I breaked too hard and crashed into the chicane – absolutely my bad. I was limping back to the pits destroying the car even further. After a 2min plus pit stop, I was 2 laps behind and around P9.

Well, I lost a podium place but I managed to overtake a few more cars for position. At the end I was back in P5. And this was actually a success – at least I reached my goal.

TRACK – I think that Monaco is very special and has its place in a proper F1 calendar. The real problem is the chicane in the 66 layout :o. These cars (BT44) are too powerful and too crazy to survive a bottleneck like that in heavy traffic. I would suggest to go for a more modern layout (80s) where speeds are much lower through the chicane, which leaves also some space for error.

All in all, that was another great and extreme experience during an extra-ordinary season. Looking forward to the next races and really hope that my team mate Andi can get rid of the bad luck that sticks on him (no points yet).

If you guys want to make 107% rule effective its up to you, Ill personally go as voting says, but please be clear about it, if you want it just say so, no hints please, we are an open community here.

Nope, not what I meant. Actuallt I meant nothing, just explained how it was. Otherwise I'd have said I wanted a 107% rule. This league is for everyone. There are other leagues with aliens only, when/if I want that.

I had no idea of that. Santiago, tell me about it.
From the times I've been in Perú I've seen that my surname is very popular there, also many basque surnames around there. Dancourt sounds more like french.

These cars use the same engine as the Eve f1 which is based on the Matra DFV , but they have more grip with slicks and wings , they also have better braking . i think they are a touch wider but theoretically they should be easier to drive around Monaco .
I think we all push them too hard
Understeer - is when you hit the wall with the front of the car
Oversteer - is when you hit the wall with the back of the car
Horsepower - is how fast you hit the wall
Torque - is how far you move the wall when you hit it

ok , i finally stopped laughing at what coyne said about his wifey- here is my report or tort

before the race i was having serious reservations about having a points race at this track but came to the same conclusion pointed out here : its a f1 have to do it thing

quali- is all important here - i managed a pb and broke 1:20 to get to the middle of the grid ......i kinda wanted to start at the back but agree with nikos - you cant pass someone here

race- i ended up finishing and the team did very well 4th and 6th ....but.....

107% rule - ? really ? not here - we do need a rule or a reminder that when you spin you dont pull back into the racing line when cars are coming , i got knocked out 2x by those moves ...

otherwise - only the top 3 finished on the lead lap so everyone else had to be lapped by them .....the fast guys have varied skills at doing that in my experience - and really fast guys are the minority here , you better not complain about the rest of us being too slow , we can run into you pretty easy and not miss the points at all :o

i got a new pc so am loving the maxed out graphics and better frame rates , i took a screeny :

I had to do a 180º reverse spin after our incident to face the right direction, just hoped DjC wasn't too bothered about it (He was just looking at me like thinking "c'mon, get out of the way".

Not bad for someone driving on 3 wheels Big Grin.
It's called a J-Turn.
